Old never !

The saying goes that you are as young as you feel. I can feel physically ancient and a teenager mentally. It is when I look in the mirror that I get reminded that I am a menopausal older woman. The problem is if you start thinking like an old person you will become one. I like to think despite the onset of “aging body syndrome” (getting older)I still act and behave younger than I am.

I live with the perennial Peter Pan who still has the joy of a child over so many things. He is 60 and still climbs trees to see if there is a bird’s nest in it. When he sees something new his eyes widen with wonderment no one thinks of him being the age he is. So age is a state of mind if you think you are old that worm in the brain can soon affect all of your thinking and if you are not careful you start feeling that  you are too old to do so many thing.

Two years ago I arranged a surprise 80th  birthday party for my step mum. My husband persuaded me to buy party party pea shooters and flying balloons. It was great to see people in their eighties and late seventies ruining around blowing up balloons and letting them fly and shooting peas at each other. My step mum loved it.
Last week my husband and I celebrated 10 years of being married by having a Blessing, what a Brilliant day. I was worried about being seen as mutton dressed up as lamb, also the thought of bat wing  arms out on show. Listen to the worm in my brain too old! I went to a great shop who treated my friend and I like royalty and helped me choose a dress for the occasion. (that experience is another blog

We invited family and friends to our celebration. The biggest joy for me was that my friend Chris Guyon ( who is a lady of a certain too) was the Celebrant at our blessing. She recently trained as a civil celebrant  to do funerals, however she is able to do blessings and naming ceremonies too. Chris conducted a moving and wonderful blessing ceremony for us and there were smiles and tears of joy.The day proved that despite becoming older there are opportunities out there. Chris as a Celebrant (check her out  follow the link) and Les and I as the happy couple, like a pair of young love birds, we enjoyed the day more than our wedding. It all goes to prove you are never too old.

Can the Can’ts

Can the can’ts came to me as a title for this blog as a thought for the day landed in my email in box this week. It made me think how much we say can’t in our day to day lives. The thought for the day which said, “Success comes in cans failures in can’ts

Managing Pain

If you have to manage pain on a regular basis it can be hard on you both mentally and physically. I was diagnosed with connective tissue disease three years ago which can cause pains within the joints. Pain can cause sleep disturbance, lower mood, tiredness and reduce concentration to name just a few.

Confidence

Clients and students often tell me that they lack confidence and self-belief as such this holds them back from being who and what they want to be or do. The media seems to be full of information about confidence building and all sorts of ideas on how to boost it. With all the information out there it is hard to know where to start especially if you lack confidence.
